Fix Your Gaze On 2012

We ask that the article below, from  IBD Editorials,  be read objectively.  I attended the first Tea Party with Glenn Beck in San Antonio, Texas.  It was a day that will remain with me forever because in my opinion it was the day that America's "silent majority" found its voice.  The Tea Party has accomplished the unimaginable.  Now it is time to regroup and prepare for the battle to save America from the clutches of Barack Hussein Obama and his minions. 

We are NOT the majority in Washington, D.C. YET!  The Democrats in the Senate and a Democrat president still outnumber us.  We simply cannot win every battle with those odds.  We should also not be willing to sacrifice our country for the sake of stubborn pride.   

If we bide our time, play our cards right, and do not become too complacent with our past accomplishments and the power that we have gained since the Tea Party was formed, we can defeat the Socialists and Marxists who threaten our very independence, indeed our Republic and the way of life we have always enjoyed.  Remember Proverbs 16:18 - "Pride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall."

Editorial: Tea Party, Fix Your Gaze On 2012

Debt Battle: The Tea Party has proved its power — and its principle. Now it's time to declare an imperfect battlefield victory in 2011 and regroup for the more important struggle of defeating President Obama in 2012.

Champions of smaller government, low taxes and a freedom-driven economy shouldn't expect whatever the end result of "Boehner 2.0" is to be worth very much cheering, especially after Harry Reid's Senate gets through with it.

But with the clock ticking on the federal government's debt deadline, Tea Partyers should take whatever half-loaf now comes their way.
They've demonstrated that theirs is one of the most formidable grassroots movements in American history. What they stand for is right, and would make our Founding Fathers proud. And they've demonstrated that they're the real deal, not shills for those who are a little right of center within the Republican Party.

Bismarck might not be the Tea Party's favorite historical figure, but his advice has never been more pertinent than here and now: "Politics is the art of the possible."

Tea Partyers shouldn't lament that their preferred Cut, Cap, Balance approach, which passed the House, is impossible to get enacted into law in 2011; rather, they should take pride in realizing that because of their movement, real spending reform is indeed politically possible — just not this year.

They're poised to be a part of replacing Barack Obama with a Tea Party president. But that won't happen if they let Obama shift the blame for this economy to Tea Party-beholden GOP congressmen. What'll happen in that case is very likely the collapse of the Tea Party as a serious force.

Leaders of this great movement should know better than anyone that the war against spending is a long one. Even if by some miracle, $3 trillion or $4 trillion in cuts did materialize this year, we're still talking about government debt less than a decade from now approaching $30 trillion. This debt ceiling conflict is only the opening shot of their People's Revolt against such madness.

Entitlement reform and elimination of wasteful agencies, not to mention the possibility of a Balanced Budget Amendment being ratified by the states, are all battles that lie ahead. But they are battles that will be won only with control of both the White House and Congress.

What the Senate and House agree to is unlikely to include a BBA. Still, the Tea Party should take it, declare a partial win for its agenda and get to work ousting Obama in pursuit of the completion of their goals. GOP internecine warfare only wastes ammunition that will be needed next year — for the real fight.

As Sun Tzu advised, "He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot will be victorious." For the Tea Party, now is the time to lock and load and wait till next year.

Obama's Shutdown

 As Americans anxiously await to hear if the House and the Senate can come to an accord on the budget, or face  the shutting down of the government, Barack Obama and his family preapre to leave town for a previously planned family getaway.  Someone should have warned Mr. Obama that being POTUS requires more intense work than that of community organizer or a Senator who is better known for voting "Present."  One wonders, "Does Obama care if the government shuts down?" 


Utah's Republican, Sen. Mike Lee  is quoted as saying that President Obama's inability to get a budget passed last year may have been "deliberate."  Has the liberal media questioned why, if the Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress, they were unable to come to an agreement and to approve a budget in 2010? According to Senator Lee,  "It was either irresponsible on one hand or deliberate and malicious on the other with intention to bring about a sequence of events that would culminate inevitably in a government shutdown." Speaking on the Senate floor today, Senator Lee was quite serious.


Lee was not the only person to suspect that the government shutdown could have been preplanned.  Speaking on FOX News, radio talk show host, Chris Plante, questioned how former DNC Chairman Howard Dean could possibly have been able to predict weeks ago that the Republicans would get the blame  for a shutdown.  The answer according to Plante is simple --Dean  knew that  a showdown was coming, and he also knew that the media would be on the side of the Democrats because they are working together.  How else could Dean have stated that he knew who would win?  Plante called the media, "the Bucket Brigade, whose job it is to carry the water for the Democrats."  An apt description and a devious  ploy which does not come as a big surprise. 


The media is ready and very willing, to blame the GOP for the impasse. We believe that in doing so they are underestimating the American public's intelligence and sophistication.  There are some who are willing to be spoon fed by the  news media, but there are entirely too many others who will no longer accept the media bias as gospel.  Both the Democrats and the media persist in repeating the same tired mantra:  "The Tea Party controls the Republicans."  "The Tea Party is whispering in the ear of Republicans."  The Tea Party does not need to whisper in any one's ear.  The Tea Party has a voice of its own and speaks out in the most effective way possible -- at the polls.


The truth of the matter is that in spite of Obama's fear tactics and threats to veto any attempt to keep the American military funded, the government doesn't really "shut down" during a shutdown.  The rules for who works and who doesn't date back to the early 1980s and haven't been significantly modified since.  The Obama administration hasn't issued new guidance.


The air traffic control system, food inspection, Medicare, veterans' health care and many other essential government programs would run as usual. The Social Security Administration would not only send out benefits but would continue to take applications. The Postal Service, which is self-funded, would keep delivering the mail. Federal courts would remain open.


Once again during these negotiations, what has become most apparent to Americans is Barack Hussein's Obama inability to lead.  He threatens to veto any effort on the part of Republicans to continue paying the U.S. Military during a new government shutdown, and the media report it without question.  In case Mr. Obama has forgotten, our country is engaged in three wars in three different countries, the last of which is HIS war in Libya.  The arrogance of the man to threaten to withhold payment to the very people he has sent to put their lives in harm's way!  The insensitivity of the man to play political games with the lives of military families!


There may be a silver lining in this dark cloud that hangs over our country.  If Obama's government withholds payment for all who would be affected by the government coming to a standstill, two important things could take place.  The American people could very well realize how smoothly the government functions without all the bureaucracy and waste of money, and like it.  The Democrats' ploy to turn the voters against Republicans and the members of the Tea Party could backfire and blow up in their face. 


Everyone knows that the Democrats and the White House rejected the Republican's stopgap plan to keep the government going for another week while extending the military's pay for the rest of the fiscal year.  Using the excuse that the two riders contained in the measure were unacceptable, they turned their backs on the GOP offers.  The riders include not funding abortions in the D.C. area and keeping the terrorists detained at Gitmo without coming on American soil.  These are not new demands.  These are provisions that were in place until they were changed by the Obama administration.  If they can be called anything, the word is reversals -- and welcome reversals they would be.


In the end, the stalemate, and the refusal to reach a compromise boils down to defending Obama's health care bill.  Democrats will go to great lengths to protect Barack Obama's legacy - socialized medicine for Americans - at all costs. That includes shutting down the government while placing the blame on Republicans and the Tea Party. Their reluctance to come to an agreement with the GOP is strictly political. In spite of our country facing an astronomical deficit, they are willing, for purely political reasons, to risk bringing the government to a standstill, letting women and children go without money for groceries and bills, furlough federal employees, and close national parks.


These are the same Democrats, Reid, Pelosi, Hoyer, et al. who rammed Obamacare down our collective throats and who hid an outrageous amount of expenditures in it. If Senate Democrats are really serious about cutting down on wasteful expenses and getting the economy back on track, they would realize that the path to fiscal health begins with the repeal of Obamacare.

Feel good pictures all, are they not?  Then why do we have a nagging feeling that all is not quite right?

We've spent a good part of today watching the news on television, and listening to debates and predictions from journalists and politicians.  One would believe that the agenda for the upcoming 112th Congress is clear, cut and dry.  The Democrats who were in power suffered their worst political defeat in sixty years.   America's "silent majority" found its voice and in a grass roots movement called The (Second) Tea Party, made their wishes known.  It wasn't all demonstrations, rallies, and flag waving.  On November 2, 2010,  they went to the polls in droves, and they sent Washington, and specifically the Obama administration a message that no one could misunderstand. It endorsed reduced government spending, lower taxes, reduction of the national debt and federal budget deficit, and adherence to an originalist interpretation of the United States Constitution.  Fiscal responsibility, that is not too difficult to comprehend. Yet many Democrats are argumentative and belligerent.

Sister One attended the first Tea Party at the Alamo in San Antonio when people like Glenn Beck, Janine Turner, and Ted Nugent inspired the crowd with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.  Not only were the speeches stirring, but the signs that people carried expressed their feelings clearly, passionately, and in many cases humorously.  The intensity and passion of the Tea Party movement spread throughout the country.  As it did, liberals mocked, comedians joked, and  Nancy Pelosi called the grassroots movement, "AstroTurf."  The fetid, foul mouthed Janeanne Garofalo called the American patriots a sordid name that was soon picked up by others.  One wondered how long the movement would last.

We learned never to underestimate the determination of the American people, nor their love for the Constitution of the United States, our freedom, our sovereignty and our republic.

Recently we've heard liberals curse the Constitution, refer to it as an old document, hard to read and to understand.  We've seen the Obama administration disregard the Constitution.  In just the past day Attorney General, Eric Holder, has stated that he does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms.  Excuse us for asking, but "Who do these people think they are?"  Did they really believe that they could come into power and change our America?  Is this what the "Hope and Change" was all about? We are a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Any school child can tell you that The Constitution is the highest law in the United States. All other laws come from the Constitution. It says how the government works. It creates the Presidency. It creates the Congress. It creates the Supreme Court. Each state also has a constitution. The constitutions of the states are their highest law for that state — but the United States Constitution is higher.  If a child can recite this, why can't these men with law degrees remember it?

It is is not ignorance, or lack of education.  It is merely a power grab by left leaning liberals funded and backed by scum like George Soros who hate America and want to destroy it.  These people  will persevere in their evil intent.  It is heartbreaking to see out country, once the greatest and most envied and admired world power, lose the respect of its allies and its enemies.

Which brings us to today, and those photos of smiling Republicans ready to take on the duties of the 112th Congress.  It also brings us to the feelings of uneasiness that the battle we face will be a difficult one, and we must be vigilant, but patient, with those whom we've sent to Washington to represent us.

We understand that on January 6th, when the 112th Congress comes to order, The Constitution of the United States will be read in its entirety.  We applaud those who came to this decision.  We encourage all to read it again.  We also encourage patience and understanding.  There will be times we need to compromise and consider what is best for the country and the American people.  Unless we see the GOP stray from the mandate they've been given, and roll over for Democrats as others who went before them have done, we must give them our trust and our support. Let us give them time to find their way, to learn the ropes, and always make our wishes known and stay in touch with our congressmen.  As Thomas Jefferson said in June of 1798:  " A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to it's true principles."
