Living With Change

I’ve not written in a few days because I’ve tried very hard, really, to carefully weigh my words when I begin to write an opinion piece.  After much thought I’ve decided that this is MY blog, and my attempts at political correctness betray all that I am.   I am political, and I am usually courteous and behave correctly, but, I am NOT  politically correct because someone mandates it.  I want readers to read my blog, not because I write what they want to hear, but rather because I write what I believe.  What good does it do for me to have taught my children, “To thine own self be true,” if I don’t practice it myself.

My sister and I began writing Two Sisters From The Right in 2007.  The office of president was up for grabs, and we knew that a war weary nation would look for a president who promised to make changes.   When Barack Hussein Obama erupted on the scene, we knew we had to try to convince our fellow citizens that an Obama presidency would be hurtful to the country.   In 2009, when our mother who had always had great influence in our political beliefs passed away suddenly, we stopped writing.

This coming month I will celebrate one year of bringing this new version of Two Sisters.  The fact is that although my sister and I speak on the phone, email one another, and discuss the topics that I write about and print, I am solely responsible for the content of this blog.  My sister is a marvelous writer, and the success of our previous blog was due in great part to her work, her effort and her computer knowledge. However, she has chosen not to write this time around.  As is natural with siblings, we haven’t always agreed on issues, and there are some important issues  at this time on which we are not in accord.  Even so, I will continue to write using the plural “we” because the opinions expressed here are often the collective thoughts of those who inspire and influence me.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the readers who have made it possible for this little blog to have gotten nearly 23,000 page views since October of 2010.  This blog is a labor of love.  Certainly no money is made, and the only investment is my time.  We do so because we love our country, we revere the vision of our founding fathers,  we do not apologize for this great nation, and we want the best for the future of the United States of America.

Blogger, is a system provided by Google which makes it easy for non-professional writers to blog.  There are now some new changes to the Blogger interface which will enhance the blogging experience.  I need some time to learn how to make the transition.  Two Sisters From The Right will continue to bring interesting reads through our Facebook page. Readers need only type in Two Sisters From The Right in the Facebook search bar, and click.   Thank you very much for your patience and above all, thank you for your readership and your support.  See you in a few days.

Sister One, writing for Two Sisters From The Right.

Perry Op-Ed: Cleaning Up Washington’s Mess

 September 26th, 2011
Gov. Rick Perry penned this op-ed, which appears at Tea Party Brew

Texas Governor Rick Perry on job creation, border security, and Washington’s failure to do anything useful about either. Tea Party Brew welcomes the Governor and his participation in our premiere.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen what happens when our country chooses leaders who emphasize words over deeds.
For all of the president’s eloquent speeches, he’s done nothing to right America’s wayward course. As jobs are lost, so is the hope he once promised. Meanwhile, the federal government has grown bigger and more brazen, willfully neglecting its constitutional duties.

Washington’s mess has spilled across the country. Nearly 2.5 million jobs have been lost under this Administration. 45 million Americans are now on food stamps. And the president has added $4 trillion to our debt, costing us the first credit downgrade in American history.

In spite of the widespread misery created by this president, in Texas, we’ve found ways to clean up Washington’s mess.
Most importantly, we’ve rejected the over-taxing, over-spending, over-regulating philosophy that does nothing but kill jobs.

As Governor, I’ve signed 65 tax cuts totaling more than $14 billion. I was the first governor to cut state spending since World War II. And we’ve passed sweeping lawsuit reforms, including a loser pay law, and fought Washington’s intrusive job-killing regulations.

It’s not a coincidence that my state has gained more than one million new jobs in the past decade, or that Texas is responsible for nearly 40 percent of all net new jobs in America since June 2009. It’s proof that the conservative philosophy works – when it’s implemented by leaders who emphasize actions over words.

While it’s tough to overstate the economic impact of Washington’s failure, nowhere is the federal government’s mess more apparent than along our international border.

At least 35,000 people have died in the Mexican drug war that threatens to spill into our country on a daily basis. The border with Mexico is viewed as a prime point of entry by terrorist organizations, criminal gangs and drug traffickers.

And because the federal government has abdicated its constitutional responsibility to secure our border, millions of immigrants have been allowed to enter the country illegally.

As a result, state governments across the country are forced to deal with the consequences of Washington’s failure. With 60 percent of the total US-Mexico border, no state has been hit harder than Texas.

That’s why, as Governor, I have implemented the most aggressive state-led border security initiative in America.
We created a state Border Security Operations Center to coordinate intelligence and assets in an 80,000 square mile region.

I have authorized the use of National Guard personnel, state trooper strike teams, covert surveillance units, canine tracking teams, DPS helicopters, game wardens and the Texas Civil Air Patrol to help border sheriffs and police stop illegal activity.

And I directed nearly $400 million of Texans’ tax dollars to pay for these measures – money we could have used for our schools, roads or a host of other priorities if it weren’t for Washington’s inaction.

As a result of our state-led initiatives, we’ve created major disruptions for international smuggling rings, seized millions of pounds of illegal drugs, taken 3,500 illegal weapons off the street, and made our state – and all of America – safer.

In Texas, we understand the consequences of Washington’s failure to secure the border. And we are proud to do our part, voluntarily paying a price that no other state has paid.

Nobody from Washington had to ask Texas taxpayers to pay for these measures. Nobody from Washington had to ask our border sheriffs and state law enforcement officers to put their lives on the line to do a job that they weren’t willing to do themselves. We did it because it was the right thing to do for our state and our nation, and because actions matter far more than words.

TWO SISTERS

Barack Obama's 32 Month Report Card

by Rich Carroll

Copy this article. You will need researched material to mail your liberal friends and/or relatives.

Mr. Hope and Change wants to create a nation humbled; humiliated, casting-aside capitalism and individual freedoms for one where “we the people” are government controlled. This would be a system that genuflects mediocrity, steals personal aspiration and opportunity, and punishes those who strive to succeed.

A gallon of regular gasoline the day Obama was inaugurated was $1.79 on average in the U.S. Today that price is $3.59, a 100.6% increase. The number of food stamp recipients has risen since Obama took office from 31,983,716 to 43,200,878, a 35.1% jump. Long term unemployment soared 146.2% during the same 32 month period from 2,600,000 to 6,400,000. Staggering “hope and change” isn't it?

American citizens living in poverty have risen 9.5% from 39,800,000 to 43,600,000, and the number of unemployed has jumped almost 25% from 11,616,000 to 14,485,000 as of August 31, 2011. The number of unemployed blacks has risen from 12.6% at the end of George Bush's ter to 15.8% today, a 25.4% increase, and finally, our national debt is up 34.4% from 10.627 trillion to 14,278 trillion *

Keep these figures in mind as we recount the number of “firsts” for this presidency:

·        First President to refuse to show a valid birth certificate.

·        First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner.

·        First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.

·        First President to preside over a cut to the credit rating of the United States.

·        First President to violate the War Powers Act.

·        First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

·        First President to defy a Federal Judges court order to cease implementing the Health Care Reform Law.

·        First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a third party.

·        First President to spend a trillion dollars on shovel-ready jobs and later admit there was no such thing as shovel-ready jobs.

·        First President to abrogate bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union supporters.

·        First President to by-pass Congress and implement the Dream Act through executive fiat.

·        First President to order a secret amnesty program that stopped the deportation of illegal immigrants across the U.S., including those with criminal convictions.

·        First President to demand a company hand-over $20 billion to one of his political appointees.

·        First President to terminate Americas ability to put a man in space.

·        First President to encourage racial discrimination and intimidation at polling places.

·        First President to have a law signed by an auto-pen without being present.

·        First President to arbitrarily declare an existing law unconstitutional and refuse to enforce it.

·        First President to threaten insurance companies if they publicly speak-out on the reasons for their rate increases.

·        First President to tell a major manufacturing company in which state they are allowed to locate a factory.

·        First President to file lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (Az, WI, OH, IN)

·        First President to withdraw an existing coal permit that had been properly issued years ago.

·        First President to fire an inspector general of Ameri-corps for catching one of his friends in a corruption case.

·        First President to appoint 45 Czars to replace elected officials in his office.

·        First President to golf 73 separate times in his first two and a half years in office.

·        First President to hide his medical, educational and travel records.

·        First President to win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing NOTHING to earn it.

·

·        First President to publicly bow to Americas enemies while refusing to salute the U.S. Flag.

·        First President to go on multiple global apology tours.

·        First President to go on 17 lavish vacations, including date nights and Wednesday evening White House parties for his friends, paid for by the taxpayer.

·        First President to refuse to wear the U.S. Flag lapel pin.

·        First President to have 22 personal servants (taxpayer funded) for his wife.

·        First President to keep a dog trainer on retainer for $102,000.00 a year at taxpayer expense.

·        First President to repeat “the Holy Qur'an tells us,” and openly admit “the early morning call of the Azan (Islamic call to worship) is the most beautiful sound on earth.”

Remember that 32 months of Obama White House we the people have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our nation's entire history, as the Obama's plan their next extravagant vacation to the Indonesian Island nation of Bali.

Hope and change anyone?

"The Quartet" to Abbas: Peace Talks or No Deal

When Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas arrived in New York to petition that the United Nations grant the Palestinians full statehood and a seat at the U.N. he was filled with confidence that the Middle East majority would grant his wish.  Instead he was met with a message from the "Quartet" - the United States, the European Union, Russia and the UN.  He was asked in no uncertain terms to return to the peace talks with Israel or there would be no statehood.

This is an issue of great importance to all of us.  At age 65, I don't have too many memories of there ever been peace between Israel and the Arab nations of the Middle East.  This past  year we experienced what became known as "The Arab Spring" and we have yet to learn its true significance or ascertain what the eventual consequences of that violence will be.

For now, we take a deep breath and pray that the Palestinians return to the peace talks, and that Israel will not to have to go to a full war once again to protect her borders from her enemies' deadly assault.

We present a vivid account of what transpired at the U.N.  written by correspondent Leo Rennert, writing for the American Thinker.

TWO SISTERS

Abbas arrives at the UN with a bang, leaves NY with a whimper

 By Leo Rennert

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas arrived in New York with supreme confidence that the United Nations would approve Palestinian statehood and give Israel a black eye. But a funny thing happened on the East Side that sidetracked Abbas's agenda, leaving him sputtering against a joint move by the most potent international players who confronted him with a starkly different course that Israel readily embraced.
To parse what actually happened in New York, one has to recognize that, in delving again into the morass of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, there actually were two proceedings going on.

While the cameras were focused on Abbas strutting to the podium of the UN General Assembly, there were more significant, behind-the-scenes meetings of the Quartet -- the United States, the European Union, Russia and the UN. And the Quartet, instead of endorsing Palestinian statehood, put all its influence behind a quite different move to get Abbas to sit down with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and resume serious negotiations --- something Netanyahu repeatedly advocated for the last year.

And here was the real rub: The Quartet's statement called for resumption of bilateral talks "without conditions" -- a slap at Abbas, who kept demanding that Israel freeze Jewish construction in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, and agree to borders along the 1967 lines before talks could even get under way.

No wonder that the Palestinians, suddenly on the defensive, slammed the Quatet's communique, while Israel signaled its acceptance.

In its call for unconditional talks between Israel and the Palestinians, the Quartet set a tight deadline -- a start of negotiations in one month, comprehensive proposals by each side on borders and security in three months, substantial agreement in six months, and a final two-state peace deal before the end of 2012. And since the Quartet wants the two sides to grapple early on with borders, this means that Jerusalem would be in immediate play. Because if you're going to chart a border between Israel and Palestine, Jerusalem has got to be located somewhere -- whether split in two as Abbas wants or united, as Bibi wants.

What would Abbas have to do if the Quartet were to succeed in dragging him to the negotiating table? Within three months, he would have to show his opening cards, presumably a repeat of his uncompromising address to the UN General Assembly -- a Palestinian state in all of Gaza, all of the West Bank and all of East Jerusalem, including Jerusalem's Old City with the Western Wall, Judaism's holiest site.

On security for Israel, Abbas -- judging again by his harsh UN speech -- would provide essentially nothing. He certainly wouldn't dare demilitarize Hamas-ruled Gaza with its thousands of rocket and mortar shells aimed at Israel.

For his part, Netanyahu presumably would give the Palestinians all of Gaza -- please keep it -- but very little if anything of East Jerusalem and about 90 percent of the West Bank, with Israel keeping Ariel, and close-in major settlement blocs like Gush Etzion and Maale Adumim. Bibi's stance would be less generous than Ehud Barak's in 2000-01 and Ehud Olmert's in 2008. But those initiatives were rejected by the Palestinian leadership and history rarely repeats itself.

When it comes to security, the positions of the two parties would be even more divergent because Netanyahu already is on record as demanding a demilitarized Palestinian state and an Israeli military presence along the Jordan Valley -- provisions certain to be rejected by Abbas.

The Quartet's script then gets even more interesting when it comes to attempts to narrow these gaps. Netanyahu might inch toward a compromise with slight changes on his map and with modifications of security arrangements. But Abbas has no room for any flexibility. His intransigent UN speech made that amply clear. And with Hamas looking over his shoulder and threatening sharp reprisals if he dares show an inch of flexibility, Abbas is not about to stick his neck out and invite a Palestinian civil war.

Abbas is boxed in. He overplayed his hand and was left empty-handed as he returned to Ramallah. He still may get a largely symbolic statehood boost from the UN General Assembly, but as the week progressed, he was left without the nine votes necessary for a Security Council statehood resolution that actually would have some teeth, and in any case, the U.S. was prepared to veto any such measure were Abbas to find nine votes in the 15-member council......More

We aren’t deporting them: Washington won’t, Texas can’t.

For the next few days Two Sisters From The Right will be posting some of the best (and shorter) reads on the web.  Each will be posted individually so as not to confuse the various topics.  We found this one particularly interesting because National Review Online columnist Kevin D. Williamson takes the time to answer some of his critics.  It's an informational and fun read.

TWO SISTERS

There is nothing like writing about illegal immigrants to bring out the rubes. Some coward hiding behind a pseudonym, to whom I will decline to link, writes:
National Review has surrendered to the radical left and is slowly adopting the Obama Regime Administrative Amnesty. It all centers around the ratchet effect, abject surrender, and much ignorance on immigration law.
NRO’s resident illegal alien Kevin Williamson, while officially claiming to be “agnostic” on the in-state tuition for illegal aliens, Rick Perry’s DREAM Act assistance to illegal aliens, in fact is a big supporter of illegal aliens, and always looking for a reason not to enforce immigration laws or build fences. Perhaps that would keep out too many illegals, like himself.
If you think Rick Perry represents the “radical left,” you are politically illiterate. There isn’t much more to say about that.

And I am, in truth, agnostic about the tuition question: If Texas runs a cost-benefit analysis and comes up with one answer, and Arizona does the same and comes up with another, both are acceptable to me. The question of how we deal with our undefended border and what we do about the millions of illegals already here is not going to be decided by how the University of Texas calculates tuition for less than 1 percent of its students.

The critic quotes above makes a lot of hay out of the fact that he thinks I am an illegal immigrant. This is a case study in the danger of writing before you know what you are talking about. I am not, of course, an illegal alien, having been by the grace of God born and raised in West Texas, which our friend would have known if he were at all familiar with my work or had bothered to do 30 seconds worth of fact-checking. (I was an illegal in India while working there, because public corruption and vast bureaucratic inertia would have made it all but impossible for me to do the work I was there to do, and so I became the principal of a U.S.-based “consulting agency,” which had no papers of incorporation, or address, or employees, or bank account, or clients, being an entirely fictional device, an episode I have referred to from time to time as my days as an illegal aliens, which is what I was.)

Am I opposed to building a fence? Here’s what I wrote about Perry’s opposition to a fence: “Governor Perry is wrong about building a border fence — the logistical challenges are significant, but they are not insurmountable.” I also suggested that we “establish a border zone with an inland barrier, with the understanding that there’s going to be some zig-zagging involved.” That should not be too difficult for a competent reader of the English language to decode, provided he is not a complete buffoon.

I would like to see a proper border fence built, and I would very much like to see expedited deportations, starting with those illegals already in custody for criminal offenses. Texas and other border states are faced with making difficult decisions about how best to handle their large illegal populations precisely because Washington fails and fails and fails to do its job, as Perry has pointedly reminded the federal authorities at every opportunity.

A remark in the comments section was typical: “Illegal aliens who are known to be illegal should be immediately deported. Period.” Another read: “These people are here in violation of our laws. The rate of their tuition is not even an issue. They should be expelled.” All true enough.
But Rick Perry is not the governor of Utopia; he’s the governor of a real place, with real-world problems. He hasn’t spent the last decade engaged in theoretical refinement and maximalist ideological posturing; he’s had to govern a big, complex state, the problems of which do not always fit into neat ideological categories.

So while it’s fine to have your blog temper tantrum and scream “We ought to deport all of ’em!” — and I agree — the fact remains: We aren’t deporting them: Washington won’t, Texas can’t.

That’s the reality. Now what? Governors and presidents have to answer that question; cranks with blogs (or cranks with think tanks or House seats) don’t.

Rick Perry Is Right

Ever since the GOP Presidential Debate on Thursday, I have tried to explain the Texas law and the Texas experience to others through various forums in which I participate.  Sister Two is a winter Texan and as such does not vote in our state nor does she know laws here as I do.  I've resided in Texas for 30 years.  I am proud to call Texas home.

I expected the reaction by people from other states to the question of "in state tuition for illegal immigrants."  However, I have been somewhat surprised by the antagonism on the part of some Texans since the debate.  Either they were completely ignorant of the law or they are being swayed by what they are reading.  During the debate Mitt Romney especially, led the gang attack on Rick Perry by the other candidates, presenting half truths and out right misinterpretations. The result of this fiasco was that Herman Cain, a likable, successful man, who could very well hold a post in the new cabinet, walked away with the straw poll, but does not have the governance experience to be president.

We have all paid our share of tuition in Texas, to private universities, state universities, and in other states as well. It wasn't easy, but a quality education is the legacy we had decided to leave our children. We do not for one moment resent that the state of Texas has shown a degree of compassion that others do not share. According to CNN Politics:

Texas is not the only state that allows illegal immigrants to qualify for in-state tuition. California, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin allow illegal residents to qualify for in-state tuition. Another dozen states have passed specific laws refusing in-state tuition for illegal immigrants."

If I fault Rick Perry in any way is for speaking the truth and speaking from the heart.  If that disappoints some Texans, I feel for you and your lack of compassion, and hope that some day you will realize that what our state has done in a bipartisan manner is an act of goodness and compassion, and it makes me proud to be a Texan.

In my quest for facts to back my argument, I came across this write up by Brad Jackson, writing for Red StateThis is one of those articles I often refer to as, "I wish I'd written that!"  If you have any more questions about how Mr. Perry, had he been a stronger, meaner debater could have answered Romney's accusations, this article will clarify it for you.  Excellently, and plainly written, Mr. Jackson does an amazing job.  I do wish I'd written it!

A Texas law supported by Republican presidential candidate and Texas Governor Rick Perry to provide in-state tuition for children of illegal immigrants when they attend college has gotten a lot of attention recently. It was the primary focus of several heated exchanges at last night’s debate and was widely criticized on Twitter as well, but Perry’s opponents and the media are giving an inaccurate picture of the law and its effects.

First of all, here’s a review of what the law actually entails.

Texas law permits a child who has lived in the state of Texas for at least three years and graduated from a state high school to qualify for in-state tuition at a Texas college or university, on the condition that the child agrees to pursue full citizenship.

Now let’s look at how many students qualified under this rule.

According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, in FY2010, 16,476 students qualified for in-state tuition under TEC 54.052(a)(3), the Texas statue governing this program. That number represents only one percent of total enrollment in Texas public universities; community, technical, and state colleges; and public health-related institutions.

Only one-percent. One-percent. The likes of Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, and others would have you believe it was a program run amok where these students were defrauding a system, unfairly taking advantage of this status, and ruining higher education for every other Texan. In a state with more than a million students in public institutions of higher learning, 16,476 students is a drop in the bucket.

Despite what you may be led to believe, this was not a highly partisan bill that narrowly squeaked by on a tight party-line vote in the Texas legislature. In fact, only four legislators voted against the measure. The national media, and those politicians from outside the state of Texas may be quick to criticize this law and label it as extremist, but in reality it’s not.

This program makes a difference by offering these kids a helping hand to a quality education they may not receive otherwise. It does not destroy the ability of other Texas to get into school. In the end, it doesn’t even make a significant impact on the budgets of these colleges and universities. For instance, the Permanent University Fund that supports the flagship universities in Texas gets a substantial portion of its money from oil. They own an immense amount of land in West Texas and that land happens to be rich in black gold, pumping reliable dollars into the coffers of these schools.

Tuition only makes up about a quarter of their overall funding.

These students have lived in Texas, some the required three years, some nearly their entire lives. As part of this program students must have graduated from a Texas high school, most likely a public one, paid for in part by the state. Shouldn’t they have the chance to receive the same services at the rate that other students who graduated from a Texas high school do?

These children should not be punished for the illegal acts of their parents. Many families risk life and limb to get to America so their children can have the opportunity to attend college and achieve the American dream.

It may not be true in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, or Minnesota, but in Texas there are a high number of Hispanic immigrants, some of whom are illegal. The means by which they’re allowed to slip past a border all but neglected by the federal government is for another conversation, but the fact remains that they are here and serve as valued members of the community, and are an integral part of the Texas culture. Hispanics are not political pawns to be thrown around by candidates seeking to score cheap political points by demagoguing an entire race.

Besides the fact that Republicans will be shut out of power for ages to come if they alienate Hispanics, it’s entirely inappropriate and un-American to punish the children of immigrants who may have fled their dysfunctional, failing, or dangerous homeland for a better life here in America. These are students who only get this in-state tuition rate if they commit to becoming legal citizens. Their tuition isn’t waived altogether, it’s just provided at the rate that every other Texas resident pays.

Now I’m not lobbying for blanket amnesty, and neither was Rick Perry – he’s on record opposing the federal DREAM Act – but the picture of this legislation painted by his opponents in this election is entirely inaccurate. I’m sure someone from the Romney camp will read this and use his favorite line these days, “nice try,” but the statistics show this for what it truly is, a program that does not punish these students, these future citizens, whose parents came to this country illegally. Instead it helps them become educated, productive citizens of these United States.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

Perry's Campaign Fights Back!

Mitt Romney's campaign seems to be gaining momentum since the entire GOP field ganged up on Rick Perry's statement that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. We Two Sisters From The Right, and recipients of Social Security benefits, believe that Governor Perry is correct. This is an issue we have previously discussed on this website, and have in fact published the opinions of others who are experts and more knowledgeable than we are, asserting that it is indeed a Ponzi scheme.

Romney and his campaign have seized on the fears of the elderly and have, apparently been successful in making them believe that a Perry presidency will make them financially insecure. Romney, whose total net worth is about one quarter of a billion dollars, probably has little understanding of what financial insecurity is.  He has no money problems raising funds for his campaign.  We find it deplorable that he should stoop to fear mongering, and frightening senior citizens in order to garner votes. As governor of Massachusetts he was responsible for implementing a universal health care system in that state which many say is the template for Obamacare. Because America has shifted to the right, Romney is attempting to lure the very same conservative votes that he failed to get during his last attempt to win the Republican nomination for president.

Mitt Romney's campaign  has taken to calling Rick Perry, "Governor Sub-Zero."  It is understandable therefore that Rick Perry's campaign has decided to strike back at the Romney allegations with some real facts.

Rick Perry has created a business friendly atmosphere in Texas. He has cultivated good relationships with businessmen from all states, including California which is one of the reasons why businesses have relocated to Texas and new jobs have been created.  Because of the mass migration to Texas by job seekers from other states, the population in Texas increased by twenty percent in ten years.
Creating a work friendly environment with less regulations, has also affected our unemployment rate.  Newcomers from other states have in some intances displaced working Texans.  It's not a perfect situation, but it certainly is much better than what other states have.  As governor, Rick Perry has served our state for ten years and worked hard for his success.  Romney  on the other hand can only claim to have served and governed the state of Massachusetts for one term before he left to pursue other political positions, first as Senator from Massachusetts which he lost to Ted Kennedy and then as a GOP candidate for the presidency in 2008 where he was defeated by John McCain.
As Mitt Romney hammers away at Rick Perry's comments on Social Security, the Perry campaign is firing back with the truth.
Ray Sullivan, Rick Perry's Director of Communications issued a statement today that Mitt Romney “has been running for president full time for nearly five years, and has failed to issue a specific plan on Social Security.” “Mitt Romney’s own book compared Social Security to a criminal enterprise,” Sullivan said. *
We agree with Mr. Sullivan that Romney is "again sounding more like a Democrat as he has in the past, by scaring senior citizens," Romney does indeed, when it is convenient to him, act more like a Democrat than he does a Republican.
Governor Rick Perry and other conservatives know well that the Social Security program needs to be fixed to insure that if future generations of Americans receive some form of security from the money that they now pay in taxes. Mitt Romney cannot continue to act like a Democrat one day and then want the acceptance and the votes of conservatives and Republicans the next.

Romney does not posses the courage that Rick Perry and other conservatives have to be honest and plain spoken bringing to light the detrimental effects that federal over spending and a multitude of entitlement programs have on the American economy. We cannot imagine how much clearer Mr. Perry can be in reassuring the American voters that he will “work with citizens, experts and elected leaders to fix Social Security financing for future generations.”
Quite obviously Mitt Romney plans to use Rick Perry's book to blast at Rick Perry. We'd like to convey a message to Mr. Romney and his campaign, that we are perfectly capable of reading Perry's book for ourselves without having to listen to his spins and distortions.  Rick Perry is the one opponent that Romney most fears. Ron Paul, although he has won a few straw polls can never beat Obama and will never win the GOP nomination. Like Perry he too flip flops between political ideologies, and his stand on the American military is wholly unacceptable to most Americans. Michelle Bachman has not been able to wipe the egg off her face since she tried to attack Governor Perry on the Gardasil controversy which had long ago ceased to be an issue.
This week, most news casts in the electronic and printed media are focusing on the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, who is in New York to apply for full membership at the United Nations. This is an issue which is of utmost important to the security of the United States and the stability of the Middle East, particularly the security of the State of Israel.
Governor Rick Perry is the only candidate who has already established a good working relationship  with the Israeli government.  He is also the only candidate with the courage to stand with Israel. As Orthodox activist Jeff Ballabon is quoted as saying, "The Middle East is deteriorating at breakneck speed. Rick Perry will be a steadfast friend in the White House and who knows that Israel is the solution, not the problem."  Some liberal Jews dislike Perry because he is an evangelical Christian and has aligned himself with the Tea Party since its inception. Let us assure them that Governor Perry's interest and support of Israel precede the Tea Party formation, and his religion does not affect his feelings for Israel and the Israeli people.
As it is with American politics and government today, Two Sisters From The Right believe that Rick Perry, not Mitt Romney is  the solution to  America's many crises, and problems.
